The Great Yarmouth Malayalee Association (GYMA) is a vibrant cultural, social, and charitable organisation dedicated to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Kerala, fondly known as “God’s Own Country.” Based in Great Yarmouth, UK, GYMA serves as a unifying platform for the Malayalee community, bringing together families and individuals to celebrate traditions, build connections, and create a sense of belonging far from home.
Our Story
GYMA was founded between 2004 and 2005 by the first Malayali pioneers who settled in Great Yarmouth. What began as a shared vision to stay connected to cultural roots soon evolved into a strong and supportive community network.
Over the years, the association has grown into a well-structured and respected organisation, driven by passionate members and dedicated leadership. A key turning point came during the 2007–2008 celebrations, which marked a revival and laid the foundation for GYMA’s continued growth and impact within the community.
